CHICKEN BONE BROTH
I was stifling a cold all weekend and thankfully didn’t have to experience the worst symptoms but that was just because I had a lot of Nyquil and bone broth to get myself through it. Fluids really are the solution!!
COUGH DROPS
I’ve needed them to function :( I don’t think the regular Halls Cough Drops are effective but the TJ Cranberry Herb Drops are so perfectly soothing during the really bad cough-ridden nights 😷
NEW ICED COFFEE RECIPE
Specifically with the Chobani Cookie Dough creamer. I went back to drinking coffee this week. I took a little like a one-month pause from the coffee for no real reason other than I was too lazy to make my coffee before I left for work. But this cookie dough creamer is delicious and really does have the chocolate chip cookie flavor. My only gripe is that it’s a little too sweet so I’ve been using a very small quantity and have no idea when I’ll be done with this huuuuge bottle. But a little spoonful in a shot of filter coffee decoction and some milk and ice? Amazing.
WEST WILSON OF ‘SUMMER HOUSE’ DISCUSSES HIS FIRST TASTE OF INFAMY
Obviously West Wilson got a feature with the New York Times, he’s in the industry!! I’m so confused by the fact that fans were obsessed with West because I simply just don’t get it. He was so childish and immature, how did anyone think he wouldn’t hurt Ciara!! I think Jesse Solomon was tagged as equally f*ckboy-like, but at least he was up front and self aware about it?
The bar truly is in hell for some men. And yes, I agree with the sentiment that West isn’t the worst or anything like Sandoval, but he does need the self-awareness that comes with reality actors in recognizing that relationships with viewers are virtually imaginary and nothing compared to real-life relationships. Frankly, West did lead Ciara on to such extreme lengths—introducing her to his family, taking her as a plus one to weddings, understanding her intentionality, etc.—without being upfront that he simply wanted metaphorical fame over a real relationship. Can’t have your cake and eat it too!
PIERCING!!
I took my mom to get her second piercing!!! SO much fun!!!! And then that spiraled into a visit to Urgent Care because I accidentally dropped an earring into her literal ear canal when I was replacing the cheap one with a gold flatback stud. And then I didn’t want to hurt her eardrum by grabbing it with needle-nose tweezers. The PA who ended up taking the piercing out actually used alligator forceps and I basically did the same thing so brb, adding Physician Assistant to my resume. Anyway, I love my mom and love her new piercing!!!
SUMMER HOUSE (SEASON 3-8)
Okay Memorial Day Weekend was the perfect catalyst for me to start Summer House and with the weather hitting the mid-90s already, this show has been hiiiiittting. It’s the silliest little Bravo show about a group of friends in their 20s-30s who share a house in the Hamptons every summer weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Focuses on 8-10 young professionals who work in the city and drive/train into Montauk every Friday to kinda just let loose and party around over the weekend. The show initially started with one core friend group and now the cast rotates around with storylines revolving around evolving relationships, friendships, and careers.
I started with season 3 because I was only watching for my favorite comedians, Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo, and now I’m caught up and super not disappointed with all the hours spent. Paige DeSorbo is the epitome of what I think Alex Russo would have grown up to be—a quippy, intelligent, capable beauty who’s often underlooked because of her looks and attitude. With a mix of Blair Waldorf??? Anyway, I cannot stop admiring her personality and charm. Role model of the year!!
SUMMER HOUSE SEASON 8 REUNION
Season 8 has been GOOOOOD. I love Paige and Ciara Miller and just really despise the lack of self awareness both Lindsay and Carl have which can make the show difficult to watch at times, but I absolutely love how all the girls bonded this season. Anyway, the second part of the reunion came out this week and it’s so dramatic and there’s simply so much animosity and tension. Hated how Andy Cohen handled the heat because he was so aggressive and mean to Lindsay (rightfully so) but gave Carl, the equally, if not more, responsible party, a pass for his behavior. Such an obtuse host with his leading questions in bad faith. Similarly, Andy encouraged Kyle and Amanda to scapegoat Amanda’s depression and hormonal problems for their marital problems when Kyle’s inability to communicate was the evident cause this season.
Am I…ready for the rest of Bravo??? Maybe I’ll watch VPR or Real Housewives next 🤨Actually, I’ll consider watching Southern Charm next so I can see more of Paige through the lens of Craig Conover’s relationship.
GIGGLY SQUAD
Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner’s podcast Giggly Squad was founded off this moment and I’m LIIIIIVING for this. They’re absolutely hilarious on their own and though I was initially exposed to Hannah off TikTok, her personality shines more on the podcast versus Summer House or social media. Especially because I don’t think season 5 portrayed Hannah in the best light (granted, it was the pandemic season where everyone was trapped in a house together for months so i’ll give her some grace, but still), but Paige’s character is so genuine and authentic both on the show and the podcast and I LOVE it. She’s what would happen if Alex Russo and Blair Waldorf raised a child.
