36. tennis and apples, what's more American
i finished 3 seasons of selling sunset, deep diving into francis tiafoe, and thinking of rewatching scandal
COSMIC CRISP APPLE
These are some of the most delicious apples I’ve had all year. They have an explosion of flavor with how both tartness and sweetness are overwhelmingly palatable. These apples have a distinct juicy crispiness but the skin is a little too thick. Marvelous snacking apple. 9.5/10 ⭐️
Costco sells 5lb bags of these Cosmic Crisp apples and because I thought it was exclusive to Costco, I had to look up the background and history of this apple to find out that it isn’t. My research led me to www.applerankings.com, a website where comedian Brian Frange reviews and advises people on apples. He initially had a bit about apples on Nikki Glaser’s show that spiraled into a Tumblr apple review blog, and now it’s become a heavily trafficked site for apple enthusiasts to learn more about the apples they’re consuming.

SICK 🤒😵💫🤕😷
Currently on a recovery week. I had the dizziest spell of a week ever with some twisted combo of a head cold, period cramps, and allergies to slow my week down. Recovering as best as I can now!!
EMPOWERING PATIENT RESEARCH, Charlotte Blease
Research studies have proven the very simple concept of listening to patients’ voices when considering their care plans. Without patient insight or proper representation of researchers and care teams with the ailment, it’s difficult to assess what will be helpful to patients.
TARGETED, Justin Garson
There’s a new phenomenon in the mental illness space as a result of the internet and social media, with affected people being referred to as targeted individuals (TI). Those in the TI community are characterized by experiencing psychotic symptoms that have always troubled the human mind, except now people have the ability to organize and conspire medical explanations for what is happening to them. Explanations range from aliens to Freemasons with an unwillingness to settle for paranoia or psychotic break diagnoses from psychiatrists that can treated with drugs. Garson offers the alternative—evolve definitions and diagnoses in psychology to include modern day issues as a result of developments in technology and social networks.
and no updates on The Goldfinch, I’m still struggling to get through it.
US OPEN
There seemed to be a Shondaland box at the US open this year. Upon Francis Tiafoe qualifying for semifinals after defeating Ben Shelton, he gave the cutest shoutout to Scandal star Tony Goldwyn, and now I’m so invested in the US Open.

I followed his match against Morgan Riddle’s boyfriend, Taylor Fritz, where he did lose earlier today, but first time an American played for the US Open finals (despite losing) since Andy Roddick! Anyway, Tiafoe’s life story is insane and I can’t stop looking into more of the players’ histories.
SELLING SUNSET
I spent all week catching up on season 6 and 7 to prep for the chaos of season 8 that released on Friday. Technically, I didn’t think I’d want to watch the show any longer after they finally cut off Christine and Davina, but seeing the press interviews ahead of the season 8 premiere had me really intrigued. I am a sucker for Amanza, Chrishell, and Heather so I did want to know why Chrishell felt so strongly about not returning to the show if one of the newer characters remained. I get it now. But also I wish we got to see more homes???? Like they’re so gorgeous and there’s a missed opportunity to showcase more on the homes, especially if it could be good for their business????
And yes, I finished season 8 today LOL oops!!!!
To review season 8, it’s been a better season than most!! I really appreciate Bre’s straightforwardness in her interactions with her castmates and I have really appreciated seeing Chrishell develop the voice and strength in speaking up for herself (and her partner). But I can definitely notice how contrived and manipulated the drama is by the producers after Christine left. I continue to not like Nicole, especially with how she brings up random, false drama just for airtime. Appreciated how they showed so many more homes and their closings in this season!!! But I’m done and the show’s over!! I would love to see a reunion this year, but am not super hopeful because of how steadfast Chrishell is on not being in the same room as Nicole.
Back to…maybe a Scandal rewatch?
